Market tone is cautious to negative, driven by clear skepticism on the AI trade: an S&P 500 ex-AI index is outperforming, investors are questioning neocloud debt-fueled returns (with Musk warning of widespread failures), and Microsoft is pursuing large voluntary buyouts for capital efficiency amid its AI build-out. Additional drags include Apple product-quality issues on a new device, a bigger JetBlue loss, FTC action against a major retailer, and rising political uncertainty from a weakened Trump coalition ahead of midterms.
